Not all students can attend in-person due to personal or family health concerns. An equitable remote option is key to making sure all students thrive and no students are left behind. Virtual instruction needs to include Bellevue School District teachers, curriculum, and connections with peers as well as the rest of the in-person school communities. Participation in equitable remote options should be flexible, especially for special programs like dual language programs. Such options may also serve students in quarantine due to the pandemic. Synchronous connections to actual local teachers and peers are necessary for the mental well-being of students.
